diversity

All are welcome

We are extremely proud of our products and our people. Without our associates, who work tirelessly to create the best tasting chicken products on the market today, we would be nothing.

Diversity at Barber Foods

Our associates come from broad and diverse backgrounds – with more than 61 nationalities represented.

We stand behind our policy for non-discrimination and diversity. We hire and promote associates on the basis of their qualifications without regard to age, race, religion, National origin, mother tongue, disability, sexual orientation and genetics. Like the consistent quality of our products, that is a policy that will never change.

Learn. Grow. Become a better person.

We believe that no matter who you are or where you come from, all who work with us should have the opportunity to better themselves through education. From the basics of learning English to continuing study that will lead to a degree, we offer various programs to all associates so that they can reach their own personal goals. In fact, over the past three years we have spent more than $1,000,000 on associate education. Here’s a look at some of what we offer:

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Improving conversational English language skills is key to associate participation, health and safety.

Barber Learning Center. A Lifetime of Learning

    • In conjunction with Portland School Department’s Division for Adult Education, we offer a full, on-site program to assist adult learners in their lifetime of accomplishments.
    • ESOL, Writing, Mathematics, Computer Skills and GED

Citizenship is also a regular offering in the Barber Learning Center. While not a workplace requirement it continues to be a very popular and well attended class.

Core Competency Skill Development

We offer courses to help our associates grow within the company through both current job and potential job skill development programs.

Tuition Assistance

Associates wishing to continue their education in certificate or degree bearing programs can be reimbursed up to $2,000.00 per year.
