FAQ

Have a question about our products? Chances are you'll find the answer below. If not, feel free to contact us with any other questions, comments or suggestions. We'd love to hear from you.

Are all Barber products made with chicken breast meat?

Yes. All Barber products are made with all-white chicken breast meat.

Where can I get Barber products, I can't seem to find them in my area?

You can usually find our delicious chicken products in leading Retailers. The product locator service only provides grocery store addresses. Our most popular Stuffed Breasts and other varieties can also be found in most Sam's, BJ's and Walmart Supercenter locations. If you can’t find them in the freezer case of one of our retail partners. Click here to download a product request form to print and pass along to the store manager.

Can our products be microwaved?

Unless otherwise noted on the packaging, the Barber Foods Stuffed Chicken Breasts that you purchased are not fully cooked, therefore careful attention must be paid to cooking times to end with a product that is both healthy and enjoyable. Unfortunately, there are so many variations in microwaves sizes and wattages that it is difficult to provide instructions that are all-encompassing and will cover each variation. With that in mind, we have opted to remove the microwave instructions from our uncooked product and recommend conventional oven cooking. You can purchase our Fully Cooked products at participating Walmart Supercenters and also through Supervalu chain stores.

How do I read the date code that's on every Barber box?

Our date code is in a five-digit Julian Calendar form with the first three digits referencing the day of the year. The fourth number represents the last number in the year. The fifth number tells us which working shift produced the product over at the plant. For example, the date code 31182 would indicate the following: (1) the 311th day of the year; (2) the year 2008; (3) the product was produced during the 2nd shift. This number is printed next to the Best Use By Date, and can also be found printed on the cellophane of our entrees.

Are Barber products precooked?

Most of our products are raw and should be cooked thoroughly according to the instructions on the package. In some instances we fully cook the products, which is indicated on the box.

Are there really Barbers?

Yes. Barber Foods was founded in 1955 by Gus Barber. Today, the operation is in the capable hands of his children Julie and David.

Are there any "safe handling" issues I need to be aware of?

As is the case with all food items, especially meat and poultry, it is best to follow simple safe handling guidelines. With Barber Foods products, you should keep them frozen. When necessary, our products should be thawed in the refrigerator or microwave. Be sure to keep raw meat and poultry separate from other foods and always wash work surfaces – and your hands – thoroughly when you are through with preparation. Make absolutely certain you cook the product through to a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees F as measured by a meat thermometer, and be sure to refrigerate or discard leftovers.

I have some food allergies; do your products contain any allergens?

Below is a list of known allergens that may be contained in one or more of our products. Please check the ingredient statement on the box as all known allergens will be listed in the ingredients. This list in no way covers ALL possible allergens, so it is up to the consumer to check for specific allergens.
